Mary's Quilt

This quilt was made by a new customer of mine, Mary.  She made this beautiful quilt for her daughter, Ginger's birthday.  She lovingly calls this her "Arty Party" quilt and boy did a lot of work go into this baby.  She started it on January 5, 2013 and if I had guessed how long this quilt took I would have guessed 2 years!  It had a ton of hand stitiching on it.  Just gorgeous little flowers that I could only dream of stitching and randomly placed throughout the quilt.  And get this....she is new to quilting.  I believe this is her first quilt and she made it up as she went. I decided to add to her "Arty Party" with a lot of different styles of quilting.  Here are some pictures.
She is going to stitch some flowers on this large yellow block.  That's why it looks so plain compared to the rest of the quilt.
Check out that handstitched bouquet of flowers.  Amazing!!!!
 And a wreath with flowers.
And these sweet little birdies sitting on a branch!

 Some cute yo yo's.

And she made these three pillow shams to go with it so we decided to quilt all three differently.

This plain swirl sham will have flowers embellishments when she is finished.  I just had so much fun quilting this quilt.  It was a little intimidating but I just tried to not over think it and I absolutely love the result.

Mary, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this very special heirloom quilt that you created for your daughter.  Just amazing!

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look.

  11. Wow Mary - I'm impressed, woman of many talents! I guess we should know though, if you have patience to teach children you have patience for quilting! Hope we see this live and in person at the Fair this year!
